What Does J-Life Mean?
J-Life stands for Jesus’ life. J-Life seeks to model youth ministry and young people’s lives on how Jesus lived and ministered.
J-Life International (http://jlife.org.za/) was founded in South Africa in 2001 by John and Lorna Abrahamse. J-Life exists primarily to influence and develop leaders who will in turn minister in local communities by developing healthy youth ministries through leadership training. Since J-Life has been in action, over 200 youth leaders have been trained on the African continent. Coaching teams and J-Life interns have impacted local churches, developed established youth ministries and trained an additional 200 lay youth leaders! ILDUSA supports the intentional leadership development of J-Life International across Africa.
Foundational Values:
- The fulfillment of the Great Commission and Great Commandment as our Every Day Commission and Every Day Commandment.
- The potential and priority of the local church.
- Growing leaders via holistic, personal development.
- Ensuring ministry training is available to all people.
- Excellence in ministry.
- Belief in multiplying local leaders.
- Belief in the potential of next generation leaders impacting and influencing lives.
- No tolerance for any form of discrimination based on race, gender, age, social status, economic background, educational background and denomination. (Subject to J-Life policy)
- We will not persist in working in churches that do not share kingdom values and the J-Life mission and/or where there is no evidence of working towards that.
- Recruiting people will always be governed by their character, desire to be a change agent, discipline, attitude, and willingness to learn.
- All people ministering for J-Life will endeavor to set an example in speech, life, love, faith and purity.
- This is a not-for-profit organization and this attitude needs to filter through everything.
J-Life International Statement of Faith:
- We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments in their original writing as fully inspired of God and accept them as the supreme and final authority for faith and life.
- We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- We believe that Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and is true God and true man.
- We believe that God created man in His own image; that man sinned and thereby brought upon himself the penalty of death, physical and spiritual; that all human beings inherit the sinful nature and commit sin which leaves them guilty.
- We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died as a substitute for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that all who believe in and accept Him are forgiven on the grounds of his shed blood.
- We believe in the bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus, His ascension into heaven, and His present life as our High Priest and Advocate.
- We believe in the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
- We believe that all who receive the Lord Jesus Christ by faith are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God.
- We believe in the resurrection of all people, the believer spending eternity in heaven while the unbeliever who has rejected salvation being eternally banished to hell.
- We believe that the one true Church is all those who have been forgiven by Jesus Christ and given new life by the Holy Spirit.
